Some reports will even offer identity protection or fraud alerts for an additional cost. If you are only looking for a link to check you credit report please visit our credit check page. But if you want to get educated about the right credit report for you please read on.
Getting the report is relatively fast and easy and in most cases you can get your credit report free even with no credit card. You would need to provide your social security number which is why we recommend to use the “bigger” credit reports company’s as they tend to be more secure. Upon filling out your personal information and answering some security questions you should be able to view you credit report instantly.
Your report will contain sensitive personal information, so if you choose to print it out make sure you take proper measurements to protect your privacy. Just a quick reminder, a few months back the OPM had a security breach and exposed personal information of government employees so be sure to protect yourself.
The list below shows the 3 main “credit score” agencies in the market. All of them offers a free instant credit report, but each with a slightly different niche.
Experian – The only one on our list that is not 100% free. However it can easily ware the credit score crown for being one of the most well known and trusted credit reporting agency. Their report cost $1 for the report. They require that you enroll to their trial but you can cancel anytime.
Their report is by far the most extensive accurate and easy to read out of the 3. Our only wish is to see the same service but skip the annoying 1$ and the need for a CC.
MyFICO – Free instant credit report upon completing your application. They offer a trial – identity theft and fraud alerts program. Well known and well established company. Never got any complaints about their service and their reports are very easy to read.
Credit Sesame – Get your credit score for free, no credit card needed. Its not the biggest one out there but its well known and trusted by millions. Recommended if you just want a quick peak at your credit score. CreditMonarch.com was never informed of any security breach or data leaks with Credit Sesame.
Not to say that these are the only good credit report services out there, there are many good credit reports agencies that will give you almost the same. However experience teaches that sticking to what works — works.
